Inkscape randomly creating duplicate nodes after merging unrelated nodes
Summary:
Just randomly found a way to make Inkscape create duplicate nodes on adjacent nodes from where you're editing pretty reliably. Not sure why it's doing this at all, but it might have to do with the shape of the item I was working on, who knows.
Anyway you're looking at it still, Inkscape creating duplicate nodes isn't a good thing when you're not requesting it.
Was able to duplicate this with my normal profile & a fresh profile.
Steps to reproduce:
- Open the attached file. node_bug.svg
- Find the node located at x418.715 y641.299 and notice that there's only 1 at that location.
- Now, select the two nodes below it at x418.962 y640.594 & x418.936 y640.560.
- Go up to the toolbar and click the "Delete segment between two non-endpoint nodes" button.
- Now click the "Join selected endnodes with a new segment" button right beside it.
- Now click the "Join selected nodes" button to merge those two nodes together.
- Now, unselect the drawing.
- Reselect the drawing and look @ the node I pointed out in Step 2.
What happened?
Inkscape has duplicated the node at x418.715 y641.299, even though you have done nothing that should have warranted it to be duplicated.
What should have happened?
The node at x418.715 y641.299 should still be a single node, and not have 2 at the same exact location now.
Also, if you then try to merge them together, the node above it will then become duplicated. This will continue happening until you hit the 90degree node @ x418.343 y643.136, which will not get duplicated.
