Text tool: Pressing Esc key twice when editing text does not return to the Select tool

Steps to reproduce:

• open Inkscape
• Select the text tool and type some text
• Press Esc key twice

What happened?

Text tool remains selected. text-tool

Inkscape Version: Inkscape 1.2-dev (fd8ac314, 2021-05-04, custom)

What should have happened?

After pressing Esc twice, the select tool should be selected. text-tool-old

Desired behavior on:
