I've use clipart from openclipart, but if anyone had time and talent please provide some nice targeted designs to incorporate.
I'm including the .html and .css if anyone wants to play locally, this wasn't done through the official repo or a branch.
The CSS is ready to be used and it mobile-ready.
The gradient background box can be reused throughout the website as a highlight element since we don't seem to have any at the moment.
I expect we'll make a more elaborate review for the new website redesign, but this can serve as a starting point for that one page.
If there is enough interest to make improvements we can organize a branch for it to collaborate through GitLab.

I wanted to confirm the steps to contribute to this repository. From github contributions I have learned these steps.
1. fork the repository you want to contribute to.
2. git clone that repository, and create a separate branch.
3. do the necessary changes the git push the repository.
4. send a merge request.
Are there any other necessary steps or adjustment to these steps, that I should be following for the contribution to this project.https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape-web/-/issues/113News: Translation created without saving2017-07-13T00:32:13ZMaren HachmannNews: Translation created without savingOnly clicking on 'translate news' in the language of your choice will already create a news object for that language, even if the translator has not saved the translation.Only clicking on 'translate news' in the language of your choice will already create a news object for that language, even if the translator has not saved the translation.https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape-web/-/issues/112News: please include language in email message and turn html entities into va...2017-07-13T00:27:27ZMaren HachmannNews: please include language in email message and turn html entities into valid utf8The news published email messages currently look like this for me:

**Before editing:**
- Extension zip file resource had a thumbnail image set, but no rendering image. The thumbnail image could not be changed or removed (as in #33), but it was visible in the gallery and on the resource detail page.
**After editing and saving the resource via resource form:**
- In the admin interface, there is still a thumbnail image set, but no rendering image. It doesn't look any different on the db side, weirdly. In the gallery and on the resource detail page as well as in the form, the default 'package' icon is used.
After editing:

(if the user still has the old picture file, fixing this is easy, one only needs to add a 'rendering image' via the form - perhaps this bug is irrelevant? Still, I expected it to work differently after reading the code - it looked like it was supposed to move the old file over to the new db field).https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape-web/-/issues/104Add missing prereleases into releases app2017-07-13T01:37:09ZMaren HachmannAdd missing prereleases into releases appThe prereleases that previously couldn't be added need to be added into the app now.

I seem to remember there once was some functionality of the field - namely, it replacing the other licence in the licence selection dropdown, so that the old licence is still available for showing, but no longer for usage with new uploads.

Currently, it just displays an endless list of all available resources, which is near impossible to use (I've given up, just added the link into the 'download' field).
The visible area of the dropdown is tiny, it lists really **all** resources, and you need to type the name real fast and 100% correct from the first letter on, if you want to profit from the automatical selection.
I'd suggest to restrict it to Inkscape package category only (yeah, I know, that mixes contents and code, not good...), and to add a search to it.
Or, better, to allow it to search itself, by using the (currently unique) file name or link of the resource. It's easy to copy-paste that into the form, and would allow to take advantage of the 'resource' data format.https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape-web/-/issues/106Licences: Disabled licences in licence selection dropdown not visibly disabled2017-07-12T13:49:37ZMaren HachmannLicences: Disabled licences in licence selection dropdown not visibly disabledLicences that aren't selectable for a specific category are no longer grayed out in the dropdown. Having two links for link-only release platforms is useful, as sometimes they need explanation about usage.
For some (like snap), there can't be a link to the repo, only an explanation.https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape-web/-/issues/93Automation needed for telling translators about page changes2021-04-20T22:57:28ZMaren HachmannAutomation needed for telling translators about page changesWith the removal of the cms-diff app, and its replacement by django-cms-history, the options to notify website translators of changes shrunk considerably.

Currently, website translators rely on me running my Firefox plugin once a day. The plugin will not catch all kinds of changes, and will only find changes on pages that it knows about.
I suggest that, until there will be any kind of usable diffs (if ever), we have a pop-up dialog that opens when you try to publish an English page.
It could have a checkbox 'needs translation', that is checked by
default, and an obligatory comment field (if the checkbox is checked).
The comment would not need to be saved, only be put into the diff email.
This would ensure that translators know what changed, even without a full diff, and that editors cannot forget about the people 'downstream' (which is what currently happens in most cases).

I then used the breadcrumb to get back up to the "Develop" page. There's a whole lot of copy on this page. Admittedly, the only copy I actually read was the orange links. The only seemingly relevant link takes me back to the git tutorial.
I tried clicking on the "Contribute" menu, but none of these items sound like what I wanted.
I then tried clicking "Download" and "Source" but this takes me to a tarball.
As a last resort I tried clicking "Download" and then "Development versions" which I was certain was not the page I was looking for, but it was. Except it's a link to Launchpad.
To contrast, when you visit [elementary's website](https://elementary.io/), there is a [Get Involved](https://elementary.io/get-involved) link and clicking on [Desktop](https://elementary.io/get-involved#desktop-development) or [Web](https://elementary.io/get-involved#web-development) will take you to a section with large buttons.
I know these kinds of story-as-an-issue-report can be annoying, but I figured it was worth listing all the things I tried so that you might consider renaming certain links or cross-linking pages.
