Editing paths by nodes

#### Steps to reproduce:

Editing a series of paths representing a road network.

#### What happened?

Inkscape appears to crash on a random basis when I am in the process of dragging a node to new position. It may be that it doesn't crash but I let the beachball spin for several minutes before I force quit.

#### What should have happened?

I should be able to reposition the nodes without being interrupted. It works fine for a series of nodes and will then crash unexpectedly. (Unless it is still saving and I haven't waited long enough!)

My Mac is clean, it's not a question of memory.
