Inkscape-FontForge interoperability - 2020-09-12

From 2017-10-02 -- Original title: Cut and paste has stopped to work between Inkscape and FontForge
This is a limited, informal test regarding interoperability between the two applications. There is an obvious synergy between the two applications may not taken advantage of to its fullest. This issue will be cross-posted to https://github.com/fontforge/fontforge/issues and https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/-/issues
Versions/OSes Used In Testing:
macOS macOS 10.13.6 (17G12034)
- Inkscape 1.1-dev (7802ed9, 2020-09-04)
- FontForge 20200314 (build date: 2020-05-23 10:57 UTC)
Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS
- Inkscape 1.1-dev (cc619caa4c, 2020-09-10), snap package
- FontForge 20200314 (Built 2020-03-14 03:38 UTC-ML-TtfDb-D-GDK3) AppImage

Inkscape to FontForge

- While FontForge does generate SVG font files, Inkscape opens a 300x150px blank file.
- FontForge opens correctly its generated SVG Font file.
- Individual glyphs exported to SVG open correctly in Inkscape.
- Caveat: the node types (corner, smooth) in Inkscape are not translated identically. FontForge however reimports the exported nodes identically.
- While FontForge does generate SVG font files, Inkscape opens a 300x150px blank file.
