Additional Notes:
Patrick Storz (ede123) wrote on 2018-10-18:
This is actually not an issue specific to tutorials but happens with every document if you have "Save and restore window geometry for each document" in Preferences -> Interface --> Windows enabled and the location stored in the document does not match your monitor set-up (specifically if the coordinate (0,0) is outside of the visible desktop area, which is the case for you (it's in the upper left corner of the combined screen area).
There's a fix for this in master. I'm afraid it's unlikely we'll be able to properly fix this for 0.92.x, though.
Can corroborate Patrick's explanation ("Save and restore window geometry for each document") but not for a multi-monitor setup (single monitor setup).
That said, invoked tutorials load however and wherever the user left off. In a help file (be it PDF or HTML) that's understandable and a benefit. But with Inkscape's three-ish-page svg-based tutorials, it's unnecessary and a bit startling, especially with some tutorials opening panels (Fill and Stroke).
Firstly, is the multi-monitor off-screen problem resolved?
Secondly, is there a way for tutorial files to ignore that "save geometry" setting?
Maybe it should be considered eventually moving the tutorials to PDF- or HTML-based formats, not unlike Help > Inkscape Manual
or other Help
menu items? Is there any advantage not to?
