Unmovable multi-line text object
Steps to reproduce:
Unfortunately, I could not reproduce getting into this state, but I can describe the process as good as I can, and I have a file that demonstrates the broken state. Here's what I did (from memory):
- Start a new document
- Start a text object (T, single click)
- Paste text with long lines
- Turn the object into an auto-wrapped text object by moving the right handle to the left
- (Later, I realized I want to have a graphical object in the middle, so I split the text:) Duplicate the text object
- Move one object vertically (using Ctrl key)
- Remove everything but the first few lines on the top object and everything but the rest on the bottom one (in T mode)
- Save & be happy
- Reopen file and notice the bottom text object has moved over the top one
- Try to move it back, but it would always snap back to its original position
What happened?
I now have an unmovable text object. I tried moving it by
- dragging (snapping disabled), but it jumps back to its fixed position when I release the mouse,
- cursor keys (no effect), and
- editing the X/Y position in the toolbar (seems to be discarded immediately, no effect).
(I kind of worked around it by moving everything else and redefining the document box based on a selection afterwards.)
Furthermore, I tried opening the same document with an older version of Inkscape on a Linux machine (Inkscape 0.92.3 2405546, 2018-03-11) and found that the problem is similar, but also the horizontal position is different (fixed to the left document border).
What should have happened?
Irrespective of how I came up with this object, it should be movable and not jump back (neither immediately, nor after saving & loading).
Inkscape Version and Operating System:
- Inkscape Version: 1.0beta1 (32d4812, 2019-09-19)
- Operating System: macOS
- Operating System version: Mojave (10.14.6)
Example File
Within the attached , try moving the lower of the two text objects.
