feature request: abort any ongoing operation
Migrated from: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/459774
Steps to reproduce:
Let's say you have a large file with hundreds of nodes. And either accidentally or on purpose, you initiate something that causes Inkscape to freeze, because either the file is already too large, or it's node heavy or filter heavy or other reason.
What happened?
Inkscape freezes, and the only way to continue working is to close down the program and re-open it.
What should have happened?
I'm requesting an Abort button, which would stop any ongoing operation, and avoid having to close down the program, to continue working.
There are some related bug report links in the old report. I have not looked at those reports regarading migrating them. So they may or may not be migrated.
Bug #169054 “Filters cannot be interupted”: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/169054 Bug #170745 “cancel button for for tile cloning”: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/170745 Bug #367017 “Can't cancel object blurring”: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/367017
The last staus info and comment in the old report is:
A cancel button for potentially long or processor intensive operations would be a very useful addition indeed.
Changed in inkscape: status: New → Confirmed
Thank you very much.
