Opacity of last selected gradient stop persists in 'Fill and stroke' and status bar after tool switch

Migrated from: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1455740

Steps to reproduce:

  • open Inkscape
  • Select the blob/star shape with the Gradient tool
  • Open the Fill and Stroke dialog > Fill tab
  • Select the middle stop (looks pink, but really is white with 50% opacity)
  • Notice that everything is displayed properly in both F/S dialog and the Style Indicator area (specifically the opacity)
  • Switch to the Selection tool, in any way you like

What happened?

Notice in both the F/S dialog and the Style Indicator area, that the opacity is still reported as 50%, and it's still displaying the middle stop info

What should have happened?

Should display 100% opacity, rather than opacity of previously selected gradient stop.

Inkscape Version and Operating System:

  • Inkscape Version: 1.0beta1 (fe3e306, 2019-09-17)
  • Operating System: Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit

Per ~suv comments, a duplicate bug report (https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1314208) is tracking the Style Indicator part of this, and this report is to track the Opacity Slider part, since she says they may require different fixes. (At least as far as I understand the comments.) (That report has not been migrated, and I hesitate to touch ~suv's works.)

Just pasting in the last details here, since I don't understand well enough to abbreviate:

Changed in inkscape:

  • importance: Undecided → Low
  • milestone: none → 0.92
  • status: New → Confirmed
  • tags: added: regression
  • summary: - gradient opacity/alpha not displayed properly
