Unable to specify filename of export - Snap only

Summary:

... I understand this issue is probably unique to Linux users who have installed Inkscape from a Snap. Users are unable to specify a filename when doing an export to png or jpg

This issue has been discussed in two different topics in the Inkscape Beginners forum. In both topics it is pointed out that it works OK if you stop using the Snap method of install.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Install Inkscape using a Linux Snap.
  • open Inkscape
  • open a drawing
  • select part of the drawing to export
  • click File -> Export
  • Try to type a filename for the export

What happened?

...

  • The box for entering a filename is greyed out, it isn't possible to enter a filename

What should have happened?

...

  • It should be possible to specify the required filename for the exported file
