On a dual-monitor Mac, Inkscape opens on non-primary monitor

Summary:

I have a Macbook Pro 16" with an external monitor attached through a USB-C hub. My Main monitor (per the Displays settings) is the external monitor; the laptop's built-in display is the Extended monitor.

When I launch Inkscape, it always opens on the laptop's display (the Extended monitor). I've reproduced this on two different Macbooks (my work laptop, and my personal, coincidentally the same model).

... (write here)

Steps to reproduce:

  • Connect an external monitor.
  • In the Mac System Settings, click Displays and click the external monitor.
  • On the "Use As" drop-down menu, choose Main display.
  • Open Inkscape

What happened?

Inkscape's new document opens on the Extended display (the laptop's built-in screen), rather than the Main display (the external monitor).

What should have happened?

Inkscape should have opened on the Main display.
