Gradeint tool - defoult gradeint is not useful
Summary:
Gradeint tool defoult be haiviour is that it creates gradeint with two ends one is original color second is same color but with 0 opacity. This is problematic on two levels . its not very useful behavior (you dont need such a gradeint often). It is lite bit confusing coz even if you try to change color in fill and stokke menu opacity is still sett 0 zero and it looks like its broken (its not just unintuitive)
Steps to reproduce:
- open Inkscape
- create rectangle with red color
- switch to gradeint tool
- click and drag over the rectangle
- try to change the color of the second node in the fill and stroke dialog
What happened?
- gradient is red to red with 0 opacity
- if you try changing color visual nothing happens becos opacity is set to 0
What should have happened?
we should change the behavior of gradient tool i am proposing two options:
A. default gradient should be the original color on the first node and gray 30 on a second
B. default gradient should be the original color on first and second should be : in HS V
- If Lightes is under 50 : - Original color + 45 hue + 50 saturation + 50 Value
- If lights is over 50 : - Original color + 45 hue + 50 saturation - 50 Value
- If saturation is under 5 do not change saturation, or Hue only light
examples (Left is original color right is new rules)
