Duplicate drawing with a lot of nodes inkscape not responding

Steps to reproduce:

  • open Inkscape
  • open document with a 1268 object types and nodes
  • try to duplicate or copy an object or drawing with a lot of nodes
  • inkscape freezes and stops responding
  • takes forever to duplicate or copy the object or part of the drawing
  • adobe illustrator is fine and copy and pastes things with no issue
