Letters and accents of some fonts have their top cropped depending on the zoom level or export dpi

Summary:

Accents and letters of Cutive Font have their top "randomly" cropped depending on their display size and the zoom level or export DPI.

It seems to affect other fonts to a lesser extent, including:

  • Bahnschrift
  • Constantia
  • DejaVu Math TeX Gyre
  • Footlight MT Light
  • High Tower Text
  • Ink Free
  • Liberation Sans Narrow (but not other Liberation Sans)
  • Palatino Linotype
  • Perpetua Titling MT
  • Ravie
  • Segoe UI Emoji (but not others Segoe UI)
  • Showcard Gothic
  • Stencil
  • Sylfaen

Steps to reproduce:

Install Cutive Font: https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Cutive

Display the attached SVG file in Inkscape at different zoom levels.

Or export it as PNG at different DPI : 100, 200, 300

What happened?

Accents AND letters are not displayed correctly. The top of them is cut off along a horizontal line.

This affects the viewport in Inkscape, and the Export as PNG output.

Surprisingly, the cut does not affect the ▓ character.

What should have happened?

All characters of the file should display entirely.

Attached SVG file:

Correct display:

Incorrect display: Letters and accents are cut off (but not the first char). Note that the first E is not accented, but is still cut.

Exported as a 300dpi PNG: some lines are more or less cut, others are not (thus the "randomly").
