Swatches (and other) menus not working in separate windows on MacOS Ventura

Summary:

When Swatches are in a separate window (not docked inside the main window) they cannot be used to modify objects in the documents.

Steps to reproduce:

open Inkscape
have swatches in their own window
create any path
select the created path / object
click color in swatch window

What happened?

the object gets deselected

What should have happened?

the fill color of the object should have changed to the one clicked

note: the same problem occurs with other standalone windows as well, not just swatches. It also happens on version 1.1.2, the error only started occuring after updating from MacOS Monterey (12) to Ventura (13)
