pereference windows opens very very slowly

Summary:

my Inkscape is very very slow. I don't know why. it is especially true when I open the preferences window. it takes around 12-20 seconds on the first try. when I try to repeat it takes something like 6 seconds. if I close the software and open it again, it turns back to 12 seconds. I thought it was maybe something with windows 11. but my brother has one and I asked him to install Inkscape and test it and he didn't experience that. I have a decent machine. AMD Ryzen 4500u. I tried to reset preferences but it didn't help. when it happens. the CPU goes to like 30% use. if that helps. (as you can tell, I'm pretty new to bug reporting and I'm trying to give as much information as I could.)

Steps to reproduce:

• open Inkscape
• Edit > preferences

What happened?

the software stuck for like 15 seconds.

What should have happened?

preferences window should appear.
