Slow/choppy redraw when moving objects, Inkscape 1.2.1 in Windows 10

Summary:

I recently downloaded the most recent version of Inkscape. In comparison to the previous version: Inkscape 1.2, the latest release 1.2.1 is extremely slow and choppy to the point of being completely unusable when moving even the simplest of objects around the page, and also when moving the nodes of a path. In preferences I have tried increasing the rendering cache size, rendering tile multiplier, and the update strategy setting, but to no avail.

Steps to reproduce:

• open Inkscape
• create a new document
• draw a square
• zoom in a little
• move the object

What happened?

Redraw is extremely slow and choppy

What should have happened?

there should be no delay
