Render formula (pdflatex): Some symbols are not rendered or only partially rendered

Steps to reproduce:

In a new document, under Extensions -> Render -> Formula (pdflatex), render the formula G_j

What happened?

Sometimes only a 'G' is rendered, sometimes the 'j' index is only half shown (and ends up looking like a semicolon). image

What should have happened?

G should be rendered with a complete 'j' as subscript. image

Further example: |n=1\rangle is rendered without the '|' symbol and without the \rangle
