Inkscape crashes on launch after changing icons

What happened?

I downloaded the appimage, made is executable and ran it. After I changed the theme and icons via Edit/Preferences/Interface and relaunched the app started crashing on launch giving out only a modal window with the error message saying: "Inkscape encountered an internal error and will close now."

I tried downloading another appimage thinking I'd go back to the original working state but it didn't work, still the same problem.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open Inkscape

  2. Open Edit/Preferences/Interface

  3. Changed the theme and icons from Adwaita Dark to Yaru and icons from System to Tango.

  4. Noticed no change in theming nor the icons.

  5. Restarted Inkscape and experienced crash on launch.

  6. Deleted the first appimage and downloaded another one only to find the crashing bug still persists.

What should have happened?

It should have worked :P
