Colored Emoji Font Segoe UI Emoji dispays without color on Windows 10

Summary:

On Windows the default colored emoji are just displayed in one color - black. This default font is "Segoe UI Emoji" and should be rendered with colors, like other Graphic tools (like Affinity Designer).

Steps to reproduce:

  • open Inkscape
  • create a text field
  • Press Win + Dot to open Emoji panel and enter some emoji

    or just pase some emoji like: "😁👓🦄🍒"
  • Change the font to "Segoe UI Emoji" Changing the font should be nod needed. But we want to ensure the right Font is used to display the emoji.

What happened?

Our beautiful emoji just lost their color. We only see the black symbols. When we save the file even the Windows File preview can show our emoji. But the Inkscape Preview (inkview.exe) not:

What should have happened?

Inkscape should be able to render the colored emoji - like every other software on Windows. The font "Segoe UI Emoji" is available on every windows platform.
