[Request] Speed up multiple selection. Cases: "images", and "object list" in Dialog

Summary:

Inkscape slows down quite remarkably on two cases:

a) Selecting multiple imported images (.jpg, .png); and b) Selecting multiple objects

And when both happen (selecting multiple images) the slow down is exponential.

Request:

Disclaimer: this' a "request" but it should better be named a "wishlist" instead. Also, if I'm wrong in some of my conclusions (based on what it "feels" the program is doing, as end-user), I pray for your pardon.

On the "images" case, it would help to have a "quality rendering" option for raster too (not only for "filters"). This would help also when moving them around.

On the "multiple objects", I've noticed that the objects selected are "marked" as such in the "Layers and Objects" Dialog, even when the "Layers only" option is selected. Would it improve the selection process to not "update" that list when doing a multiple selection?
