Swatches: Gradient swatch is forked on edit

Steps to reproduce:

• open Inkscape
• open Fill&Stroke dialog
• draw two rectangles
• add a gradient to one of them
• convert gradient to a swatch by clicking on the corresponding icon in the Fill&Stroke dialog
• select other rectangle
• select to use a swatch fill
• select the swatch fill the other rectangle already uses
• switch to gradient tool
• edit the gradient on any of the two rectangles

What happened?

• the swatch is forked, the new style is not applied to the other object

What should have happened?

• It's a swatch! When I edit it, I want all objects that have it applied to change - and that should be overriding any gradient-forking settings in the preferences.
