Grayscaling an image

Summary:

Image does not remain grayscaled after quiting.

Steps to reproduce:

• open Inkscape
• Paste a bitmap picture into Inkscape.
• Grayscale it: Menu View/Gray Scale
• Save/Close session.
• Open session again.

What happened?

Former grayscaling didn't hold. Picture is not grayscaled, but is colored again.

What should have happened?

It would seem like the picture would still be gray scaled.
