Odd behavior on pasting: object inherits layer's filter and filter region

Summary:

When copying and pasting a simple path element in Inkscape, new copies of the path appear with unexpected bounding boxes and are positioned very strangely.

Steps to reproduce:

  • open Inkscape
  • open my file (attached)
  • Select a path object to the right of the Page (example shown: black circle).
  • Copy the path
  • Paste the path

What happened?

Instead of a normal copy of the circle, I get a copy with a strange tall bounding box. Sometimes the circle is even cut off at the edges, as if some sort of clip has been applied.

What should have happened?

It should have been a simple circle
