Imported images & Orientation attribute inside image exif data
Summary:
When an image is imported in InkScape, by default InkScape rotates it according to Image Exif data. The Exif Orientation is not considered by InkScape. Due to which the image appears differently on OS and InkScape.
In my case i designed a page containing images using inkscape, these image paths are dynamically added to the template. Both inkscape & SVG in general doesn't seem to offer any control if to ignore the exif data or not.
Here's a related issue : https://stackoverflow.com/questions/40081858/why-is-image-rotated-in-svg I've also added an issue on W3C SVGWG Repo : https://github.com/w3c/svgwg/issues/819 A similar discussion went on HTML WG : https://github.com/whatwg/html/issues/4495
Steps to reproduce:
- open Inkscape
- Import an image, that has Orientation set in its exif.
- Notice the image is auto-rotated.
- Go to Object Properties / Image Properties and you can't find any setting to override the image.
