Global Windows menu

Migrated from https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/170583 from 2005-02-10

Summary:

Addition of a top-level Window menu

jimmac wrote...

The View menu is quite crowded at the moment, eating mnemonics. Perhaps we want to have the windows menu as defined by the Gnome HIG, section 4.8. Windows menu.

While the HIG suggest the window menu to be used only in an MDI app, openoffice pretty much has the same interface as Inkscape too (and has the windows menu).

Having a list of open documents in the menu is also a lot easier to navigate than the current previous/next window.

  • You mean like this?

Too bad...it's broken.

  • Imagine my dismay when I opened Inkscape on Ubuntu and discovered there is no Window menu! There's one in LibreOffice...
