Some text not rendering in apt package but in Snap and AppImage.

Summary:

Some text in Inkscape generated SVGs does not render when using the official Ubuntu distribution (0.92) or PPA stable or trunk (1.0).

Martin Owens (@realdoctormo) guided me through testing settings but my settings do not result in missing text rendering on his system and reset settings do not lead to text rendering on my system.

Steps to reproduce:

  • open Inkscape
  • open the attached example file which has a lot of text annotations

What happened?

  • apt get Inkscape version does not render text
  • Snap or AppImage Inkscape version renders text

What should have happened?

  • apt get Inkscape version renders text
  • Snap or AppImage Inkscape version renders text
