inkscape crashes unexpectedly with this svg file

Steps to reproduce:

  1. I right-click on attached file, select “open with inkscape”
  2. it takes 10-20 sec for inkscape application to launch and show svg file
  3. I left-click inside the document to draw up a selection rectangle around multiple objects. At this point, inkscape often crashes (application closes unexpectedly)
  4. When it doesn’t crash, it takes 5-20 seconds to actually select the objects inside the selection rectangle.
  5. Now if I do an action, like moving selected objects upwards, it again takes many seconds for inkscape to carry out the action or it crashes.
  6. After maximum of 5-10 clicks, the application crashed for sure.

What happened?

The console shows the following error

(org.inkscape.Inkscape:3102): Gtk-CRITICAL **: 12:53:38.317: gtk_box_gadget_distribute: assertion 'size >= 0' failed in GdlSwitcher

Warning: limit of 200 snap target paths reached, some will be ignored

(org.inkscape.Inkscape:3102): Gtk-CRITICAL **: 13:02:51.937: gtk_box_gadget_distribute: assertion 'size >= 0' failed in GdlSwitcher

What should have happened?

I frequently use inkscape, and normally don't have this issue. It only occurs with the attached file

Inkscape Version and Operating System:
