While resizing/creating an object, pressing a modifier key should immediately take effect and not require moving the mouse
Migrated from: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1269331
Steps to reproduce:
- Create a new document and draw a rectangle.
- Change to the Select and transform objects tool (F1)
- Drag on one of the corners and stop moving the mouse, while holding down the mouse button.
- Press the SHIFT key to resize around the center or another modifier key, such as CTRL to resize while maintaining the aspect ratio.
What happened?
As soon as the modifier key was pressed, or released, the rectangle should resize to the correct shape.
What should have happened?
Nothing happens. You have to drag the mouse a little, before the rectangle resizes correctly.
Notes:
- This is not strictly related to rectangles, but goes for all shapes.
- This behaviour could be a deliberate choice from the developers side. If so, maybe it should be reconcidered, as it would be a more responsive and intuitive behaviour to work with.
Inkscape Version and Operating System:
- Inkscape Version: 1.1-dev (c990a67, 2020-04-09)
- Operating System: Windows 10
- Operating System version: 10.0.18362
