inkscape crashes when selecting certain fonts
Migrated from: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1797591
Steps to reproduce:
- Open Inkscape
- Select Text tool (F8)
- Write text
- Open Text Tool (Shift + Ctrl + T)
- Change font to e.g. Times New Roman, Arial...
- Crash
Or:
- Trying to open a svg file containing a text object with Times New Roman font (see Sample.svg)
- Crash even before inkscape's GUI shows up
What happened?
- A Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library error window appears stating "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for mor information." (see Error.jpg)
- After clicking OK another error window appears stating "Inkscape encountered an internal error and will close. Doing so does what it says. (see Error2.jpg)
When starting inkscape.com, after several font loading errors on startup, and reproducing the crash, following text appears "Warning: Font face with same CSS values already added: Times New Roman Bold (" (see Error3.jpg)
What should have happened?
The font in use should change to Times New Roman.
