Unicode characters dialog: Font is changed when inserting character

Steps to reproduce:

• Select a text object for editing
• Invoke the Glyphs panel
• Select a character to insert and Append

What happened?

• Selected character is appended but font face is changed

What should have happened?

• Append the character, don't touch font settings.

Inkscape Version and Operating System:

• Inkscape Version: 1.0beta2 (074b463, 2020-02-02)
• Operating System: macOS
• Operating System version: 10.12.6 (16G2136)

Additional Notes:

Is there no way to enlarge the Glyph panel's preview? It's just tiny!
