Slow selecting at first object selection

Steps to reproduce the bug:

  1. Create an rectangle (object)
  2. Open the Fill and stroke dialog (keep it open)
  3. Make sure everything is deselected. Then try to select the rectangle; --notice, that there is considerable waiting time, before the dashed bounding box appear and the object is selected

Steps to reproduce control, see normal speed:

  1. Create an rectangle (object)
  2. Make sure all dialogs are closed (e.g. Fill and Store, Object Properties, Transform)
  3. Make sure everything is deselected. Then try to select the rectangle; --the bounding box appears instantly

What happened?

It took ≈198 ms. 198 ms may doesn't seem as much, but if you sit with a mouse in your hand, it is definitely noticeable, especially if you come directly from Inkscape 0.92.

What should have happened?

It should have taken ≈33 ms

Example video:

https://youtu.be/PotWs4T6czY Try to focus on the red "Click" text and the rectangle at the same time.

Leads

The time delay is different from which dialogs are open. Fill and Stroke is the worst one, with Object Properties just coming after, while Align and Distribute doesn't seem to make the error at all. The error doesn't occur, if an previous object was selected. The error doesn't occur in version 0.92

Inkscape Version and Operating System:

  • Inkscape Version: 1.1-dev
  • Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro
  • Operating System version: 10.0.18362 Build 18362
