Don't rasterize linked SVG with <image>

Migrated from: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/171795

Note: this is a bug since 2007

I am still experiencing it and so have migrated it here.

SVG images linked in the document with the tag are rasterized, which is annoying for PDF export.

It would be very nice to "virtually" embed this file.svg before exporting to PDF, so that everything remains vectorial.

Thanks guyz !

Steps to reproduce:

Including the following tag in the document :

<image xlink:href="file.svg"/>

will rasterize file.svg, and thus make the exported PDF extremely huge.

What happened?

The linked SVG will display rasterised, and if exported as a PDF, stay rasterised.

What should have happened?

Stay vector.

Inkscape Version and Operating System:

  • Operating System: ... Win 10 640bit
