Speed/Performance degradation in 1.0beta2

I definitely cannot quantify this - but speed/performance of general UI is much slower in 1.0beta2 than in all subsequent 0.x versions. I don't know if this is "rendering speed" per-se, but even in things like scrolling in UI, speed is noticeably slower - performance is choppier.
