Can No Longer Use Boolean Operations Directly with Text

Steps to reproduce:

  • Draw a Rectangle
  • Add text on top of rectangle
  • Select both, Path > Difference

What happened?

  • Dialog read "One of the objects is not a path, cannot perform the boolean operation"
  • Text object was converted into a group of paths (one for each letter), as if I had used "Object to Path"

What should have happened?

  • Text should have been implicitly converted into a single path and the subtraction should have been performed

Additional Comments:

  • Similar results for all other boolean operation with text

Inkscape Version and Operating System:

  • Inkscape Version: 1.1-dev (6d973a2, 2020-02-25)
  • Operating System: Windows
  • Operating System version: 7
