Loading fonts with font managers broken since 0.48.5

Managing fonts with a font manger (such as NexusFont) is not working in versions 0.9+ and 1.0 beta 1 and 2. This is a major hiccup and a reason why I'm still stuck with version 0.48.5 of inkscape.

Steps to reproduce:

• open font manager and load some fonts
• open inkscape and see no fonts loaded there

What happened?

Loaded fonts not showing up in inkscape's font list.

What should have happened?

Font should have loaded

Some font managers that have been affected (taken from the launchpad issue): Nexus Font, SkyFonts, FontExplorer X Pro, Adobe TypeKit, Font Navigator, MainType font manager

Inkscape Version and Operating System:

• Inkscape Version: 0.9+ and 1.0
• Operating System: Windows 8
