Live Path Effect Hatch Nodes Shifting/Corrupting

Summary:

The nodes created as a result of the Live Path Effect's "Hatches (Rough)" tool do not stay consistent after creation, and ultimately lead to freezing/crashing the program. This was experienced specifically through the extension Ink/Stitch, and reported on Ink/Stitch github. Ink/Stitch directed me to report this as an Inkscape bug.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. A solid shape svg with no fill added to the file

Image

  1. The shape is rotated clockwise and given a "Hatches (Rough)" path effect. The rotation is to ensure the hatches are sequenced in the correct direction. "Vary stroke width" is deselected.Image
  2. The shape is rotated counter-clockwise to its original orientation. The nodes are manipulated to create the desired effect. The stroke style is changed to dotted.

Image

  1. The stroke is parameterized with the desired running stitch settings and appears correctly in the preview

Image 5. As I continue to work on the file, the parameterized hatched strokes visually degrade. They also show the same degradation in the stitching simulator. I have not attempted to stitch this out. The few times I've tried to work through this Inkscape has ultimately frozen and crashed. Image Image

What should have happened?

Nodes created through the live path effect should stay in their created locations
