Can't import into current document

Hi, I'm running Inkscape 1.4 (inkscape@e7c3feb1, 2024-10-09) on Linux, and recently I haven't been able to import any images into a document. Whenever I try, Inkscape will create a new document with the image (which I need to copy/paste into the document I'm editing).

Is this some new behaviour?
