Converting contour to path changes visual image

Summary:

I wanted to convert an SVG file to a simple path, in order to use it as an icon in a web font. When I converted the contours to a path, the appearance changed. Of the 7 arcs, 3 were merged together.

Steps to reproduce:

• open the attached SVG file,
• Select all
• Path -> Convert contour to path

What happened?

The images has only 5 arcs left:

What should have happened?

The image still has 7 arcs, as before.
