can't import from documents folder on Mac

Steps to reproduce:

• open Inkscape
• Select the File Import
• Select the Documents folder receive the following error.

What happened?

Error message "Could not read the contents of Documents" "Error opening directory '/Users/Mac/Documents': Operation Not permitted" ...

What should have happened?

I should have been able to open this folder and select a file to import ...

Inkscape Version and Operating System:
