"Unspecified fatal error encountered, aborting" when opening any file, or when making a new document.
Summary:
When opening any file, or when creating a new document, Inkscape 1.4 just crashes on me. I've tried:
- Re-installing
- Resetting preferences
- Nuking AppData/Roaming/inkscape
- Using the .msi installer, and using the .7z archive
I can use Inkscape 1.3 just fine, but Inkscape 1.4 no longer works on me (I have them installed in different folders via .7z).
Steps to reproduce:
- The crash happens to me when attempting to open any file, or making a new document using the welcome dialog
- If the welcome dialog is disabled, it just crashes right away
What happened?
I get an Unspecified fatal error encountered, aborting.
error message.
When running inkscape.com from command line, I get the following error:
E:\inkscape-1.4\bin>inkscape.com
** (org.inkscape.Inkscape:20092): ERROR **: 00:30:18.542:
unhandled exception (type std::exception) in signal handler:
what: basic_string::_M_create
Emergency save activated!
Emergency save completed. Inkscape will close now.
If you can reproduce this crash, please file a bug at https://inkscape.org/report
with a detailed description of the steps leading to the crash, so we can fix it.
** INFO (recursed): Found resource file 'dialog-crash.glade' in system directory:
E:\inkscape-1.4\share\inkscape\ui\dialog-crash.glade
This issue started happening after my last PNG export. I am somehow able to export via command line, which is something I tried after Inkscape 1.4 started crashing on me.
What should have happened?
I should either have been able to open an .svg file, or make a new one.
