Font dropdown not working 1.4.x (1.4.1rc)

Summary:

With Inkscape 1.4.1-rc (72176ca9d4, 2025-03-03), the font dropdown in the text tool does not open for me on Linux Mint (and maybe elsewhere).

Steps to reproduce:

• open Inkscape
• switch to Text tool
• type something
• try to change font using dropdown in Text tool

What happened?

Nothing. Sometimes, the menu button from another monitor suddenly shows up in the top left corner of the screen instead. Arrow keys work to go through fonts, btw.

Btw:

InkscapeApplication: invalid application id: org.inkscape.Inkscape.1.4.x
  tag must be ASCII and not start with a number.

No monitor or window is larger than 1920px in any direction.
