WEBP images copied through xclip can't be pasted in Inkscape in Ubuntu
Summary:
I inserted a WEBP image to the clipboard using xclip as it follows: $ xclip -selection clipboard -t image/webp /tmp/a.webp. When I tried pasting the image into Inkscape, Inkscape showed Nothing on the clipboard in the Statusbar.
Steps to reproduce:
- Insert a WEBP file to the clipboard using
xclipas it follows:$ xclip -selection clipboard -t image/webp /tmp/a.webp. You can use this command to download a WEBP image from Wikimedia Commons:$ wget -O /tmp/a.webp 'https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/c6/Vunosnii-balcon.webp' - Open Inkscape
- Press
Ctrl+vto insert the WEBP image to Inkscape
What happened?
When pressing Ctrl+v in Inkscape, the message Nothing on the clipboard is shown in the Statusbar.
What should have happened?
The WEBP image should have been inserted into Inkscape.
Additional information
It is worth mentioning that if I open https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/c6/Vunosnii-balcon.webp in Mozilla Firefox 125.0.3 and I right click on the image and I click on Copy image, the image can then be pasted into Inkscape by pressing Ctrl+v.
