Dev- 1.5 Text tool not working

Summary:

... Typing after selecting the text tool ignores text and interprets the keystrokes as tool shortcuts

Steps to reproduce:

• open Inkscape
• select the text tool
• click or draw text box
• type "er"

What happened?

...no text is entered. The tools is changed to ellipse on the "e" and to a rectangle tool on "r"

What should have happened?

...The letters "er" should have been entered as a text object.
