Compound Paths
In !61 (merged), I come across compound paths for the Inkscape logo, page 59 AI Spec.
A compound path is a group of two or more paths that are painted so that overlapping paths can appear transparent.
You can have groups inside of the compound path. My guess is this:
- Children of the compound path are transparent where overlapping.
- Children of the groups inside of the compound path are not transparent where overlapping.
- What is with a group inside of a group?
Another guess: This is something like doing Control+ and Control- with Inkscape.
I create this issue for thorough testing and opening with AI. Best would probably be not to save the files but create a structure of compound paths and nested elements and groups to see how AI displays them.
Example I test:
*u
0 0 m
10 0 L
10 10 L
0 10 L
s
5 5 m
10 5 L
15 15 L
5 15 L
s
*U
Further questions:
- How does the Overprint
O
operator affect this? - How much of this is relevant? I see it in the Inkscape Logo AI file but maybe not all aspects like stroke Overprint, nested groups are really being generated?
