## Documentation

This dataset shows the hourly cooling demand in the residential sector for the year 2010 on region level (NUTS2).
The profile is generated on the basis of hourly profiles for typical days. A temperature dependency is added to the typical day profiles and the profiles are transfered to different countries according to country specific activity.
Using a daily average temperature dataset on NUTS2 level, the typical day profiles are assembled to a yearlong demand profile.

This profile is unitless and normalised to 1 000 000.
In order to use this profile, it is to be scaled according to the annual demand of the respective region (i.e. so that the profiles integral equals the annual demand per region).

### Limitations of the datasets

The datasets provided have to be interpreted as simplified indicator to enable the analysis that can be carried out within the Hotmaps toolbox. It should be noted that the results of the toolbox can be improved with recorded heat demand data of local representatives of the tertiary sector.
