ServicePlanner 3.0

  • NEW: Support for up to 5 other hour categories, instead of just 1. In Settings there is a new section called "Other Hours" where you can toggle on the additional categories and give them a name like "LDC", "HLC", "PVG" or whatever you need. You can also set a schedule for each of the categories you enable.

  • NEW: Breakdown of your hours on the main Activity screen. This allows you to see at a glance how many hours you have for the Ministry and for each of the "Other Hour" categories you have enabled. The hours will show in green if they are included in the Activity Hours, or grey if they are excluded. You can turn off this hours breakdown report in the "Other Hours" settings.

  • NEW: Filter the hours showing in the Calendar. In the new Hours Breakdown, tap on an hours category to show just the hours for that category in the Calendar. Tap again to switch back.

  • NEW: Set a maximum number of "Other Hours" that will be included in your report. This defaults to 75 hours as per the guidelines for regular pioneers, but it can be changed in the app settings. If your hours for the month exceeds 75, then your reported other hours will be reduced. Note that special credit hours for things like a Pioneer School are not included in this logic.

  • TWEAK: 60 day manual backup reminders are now on by default.

  • NEW: View a breakdown of Other Hours in the Annual Service Year report, with the ability to tap and filter the monthly calendar by the hours category.

  • NEW: Daily activity notes taken to the next level - choose a colour for the note. It will highlight that day on the calendar. A new Notes window to list all notes. You can also tap+hold to load the notes window. See public#462 (closed) for details.

  • NEW: Improved Settings > Workflow screen, with an info button to describe what the settings do, and an improved screen layout.

  • NEW: Ability to change the Contact Type labels via the new Workflow screen.

  • NEW: Visit Type = "Secular". Sometimes you talk to a contact about non-spiritual matters and you may want to record this conversation in ServicePlanner, but not have it count as a Return Visit on the report.

  • FIXED: You can now add emoji to a contacts name field and the generate initials will not break.

  • NEW: Ability to add up to 2x website links to a Contact. Store any website address that relates to them as individuals or if they are a business etc. You can also now store up to 3x phone numbers and 2x email addresses.

  • NEW: You can now overwrite existing Contact Filters with the current filter options, instead of having to create a new one. If you have an existing Saved Filter, but want to tweak the filter options, previously you had to delete the current Saved Filter, and save a new one. Now you can change the filter options, and then Edit the existing filter and "Overwrite Using Current Filter Settings".

  • TWEAK: Improvements to the UI around Contact Tags.

  • NEW: You have always been able to tap + hold on the Filter button top/left of the Calls tab to re-apply the default Saved Filter. Basically a quick way to revert to the default view of Contacts. Now if you tap + hold it will toggle between the default filter, and the next Saved Filter in the list. A convenient way to switch between 2 different views of your contacts.

  • CHANGE: You no longer need to enter an address when creating a Contact. This makes it more flexible across different witnessing methods, eg phone or informal witnessing where might not get the address. But "Name" is now a required field.

  • FIXED: Integration with WhatsApp should now open to the correct chat (person) instead of just opening the app. Note that the phone number in ServicePlanner needs to match the WhatsApp number, including country code.

  • FIXED: Issue with incomplete data coming from the Contact Address Detail screen.

  • FIXED: On the Service Year report, the number of Bible Studies shown is now the number of unique individuals studied with throughout that year.

  • NEW: New "Custom" Contact Type. It uses a brown colour that compliments the other types, and you can rename it in the Workflow Settings.

  • NEW: Edit a contacts date added / created. This is not something you will want to do often but it is handy to have the option, especially as you can now group contacts by Date Added as well.

  • NEW: Filter contacts by entering a search string that will find matches in the contact name and address. Similar to the search bar at the top of the contacts list ... but now you can set it as part of a saved filter.

  • NEW: The contacts filter for Tags now provides an AND / OR option. Before it was always AND - i.e. if you selected multiple tags, then it would match contacts that had Tag 1 AND Tag 2 AND Tag 3 etc. Now you can choose OR, and it will match contacts with either Tag 1 OR Tag 2 OR Tag 3.

  • NEW: If you have enabled "Include Notes in Report" then you can now select which color notes should be included.

  • MAYBE: Integration with NW Publisher has been added, but there is a bug in their app that is preventing it from working at the moment. Waiting to confirm once the next update of NW Publisher comes out.

  • CHANGE: On the Today screen the contacts will include any that have the "Next Call" scheduled for that day ... even if the Contact is "Inactive".

  • NEW: New Video category "Bible Study".

  • NEW: Default items for the Bookshelf and Media sections. New users installing the app will have these enabled by default. Existing users can add they by pressing and holding on the "+" button on the toolbar top/right.

    • For the Bookshelf all the Teaching Toolbox publications are included (nothing else). And it is only the text name of the publications and their abbreviations - no links, no artwork. Users can add links and images themselves if they like.
    • For Videos each category will have a generic video eg "Ministry Video", "Whiteboard Animation" video added. This gives users an easy way to record showing somebody one of these video types. Users can add more videos as they prefer. The "Bible Study" category has 4x default videos - one for each section of the Enjoy Life Forever! book.
    • The Bookshelf -> Other section includes default publications "Card", "Letter", and "Website Link" with matching icons.
  • CHANGE: Removed any tooling around detecting or auto-completing publication or video details. Also removed the 4x fields on the video screen where users could fill in the video download locations to download or stream from. These fields will still show where they have already been populated, but otherwise users should just use the "Website URL or Share Link" field to fill in the location of the video on the website, or even better use the Share Link from JW Library - it will then open the JW Library app and stream or play the downloaded video.

  • NEW: Error logs are selectively written to disk so they can be included with the debug email and help isolate any issues.

  • IMPROVED: A lot of work has gone into improving the Dropbox Sync, tightening the logic and putting more safeguards in place.

  • NEW: The QR Code and link for publications and videos can show be shared using iOS social sharing sheet.

  • TWEAKS:

    • Cover artwork for Videos now forced image scale and dimensions.
    • Hall marker on Map is now Gray.
    • Use of SF Symbol Icons, with fallback to images for devices < iOS 14.
    • Moved to iOS 11 required (from 10).
    • Font sizes on list of Visits window tweaked for larger devices.
    • Latest Google Maps integration.
    • When recording placements or videos show, in the List View you can now tweak the Qty immediately.
    • Improved UI on collapsing sections in the Library.
