[Q2 P1] Personalized navigation
## Problem to solve * User feedback has routinely shown that the GitLab navigation is overwhelming * The vast majority of users only interact with a handful of features, yet must find them out of a list of 60+ items. * This has been a top finding in PCSAT surveys several times over, suggesting a long-term issue that is not addressed with users "getting used to it" ## Proposal * Allow users to tailor their navigation more heavily by selecting features that they use and showing only those in the left nav * See https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab/-/work_items/593847+ for more details ## Success metrics * Valuable activation rate - expect to see +1-10pp uplift based on positive UXR responses to this concept ## Go-to-market plans TODO: three-stage rollout – 1) internal only, 2) opt-in, 3) full release. Same general approach as Project Studio. We'll need support from PMM for customer comms / outreach too. ## Questions to answer - [ ] Defaults for projects? - [ ] Defaults for groups? - [ ] Any impact to Your Work, Explore, or User Settings? - [ ] Migration plans for existing users?
