Jira is a market-leading issue and project tracking tool used most widely in the software development market. It is highly complex and configurable, and supports a wide variety of workflows and agile methodologies. Because it is such a central tool for some teams, it can be extremely difficult (or financially un-viable) for them to migrate off of it. For example, it's deep integration with [Atlassian Confluence](https://www.atlassian.com/software/confluence) may make it technical infeasible to migrate from. This creates a "data-gravity"-like effect, where the end user's experience can suffer if there isn't sufficient support for integration with Jira.
