Parent widget for work items
### Release notes You can now effortlessly update parent assignments for [tasks](https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/user/tasks.html#linked-items-in-tasks) and [OKRs](https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/user/okrs.html#linked-items-in-okrs) directly from the child record, eliminating the need to navigate back and forth. This is a great step towards our goal of [improving efficiency with your workflows](https://gitlab.com/groups/gitlab-org/-/epics/10501). ![Screenshot_2024-08-01_at_1.04.40_p.m.](/uploads/47a1021d18f3f43604f29a12d587cca4/Screenshot_2024-08-01_at_1.04.40_p.m..png) ## Summary In the new [work items framework](https://gitlab.com/groups/gitlab-org/-/epics/6033) we will create two distinct widgets related to record ancestry: (1) [Ancestry Widget](https://gitlab.com/groups/gitlab-org/-/epics/11197) and (2) Parent Widget. This epic tracks work for the **Parent Widget**. Each of these widgets will provide information about the viewing record's ancestry but we anticipate each of the two widgets will be referenced and utilized for slightly different workflows. ### Designs Initial designs for these widgets can be found in [#414539](https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab/-/issues/414539). Please note that final designs are **pending [solution validation](https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/ux-research/-/issues/2486)**.
